The Walchensee power plant is indeed an impressive example of the use of hydropower to generate electricity. With its long history and significant output, it has an important place in the history of industrial power generation in Bavaria.
The power station at Walchensee was completed in 1924. With an output of 124,000 kilowatts, it was already one of the most important hydropower plants in the world at the time.
It is fascinating to see how this technology has now been used successfully for 100 years.
To mark the 100th anniversary of the power plant, 2024 will be a real anniversary year with lots of events and celebrations.
